Ski: the Kandahar is back in Chamonix

On 3rd and 4th February 2023, the world’s best skiers will be in Chamonix to participate in the Kandahar race for the alpine skiing world cup. Nearly 20,000 spectators are expected to attend this major sporting event.

They will set off on La Verte des Houches which is "green” only by name: lined with fir trees, this mythical piste in the Mont Blanc massif is a 3,343 metre “black” run with an elevation difference of 870 m. This highly technical piste is recognised as one of the most beautiful descents in the world.

The Kandahar 2023 programme

Friday 3rd February 2023

• Place du Triangle de l’Amitié, at 5 pm: start of the festivities for the 100th anniversary of the first Chamonix Winter Olympics in 1924 and the Paris Olympic Games 2024 “Flag Tour”.
• Place du Mont-Blanc:
  • 5.30 pm: arrival of the procession
  • 6 pm: fashion show
  • 6.30 pm: men's Slalom bib draw
  • 7 pm: Les Grandes Jambes concert

4th February 2023

• Les Houches, Piste Verte:
  • 07.30 am: opening of the site
  • 09.30 am: 1st Slalom run
  • 12.30 pm: 2nd Slalom run
• Slalom awards ceremony in the arrival area

Jackets for Ski Alpin Racing

As part of the partnership signed with Ski Alpin Racing, the Chamonix Sotheby’s International Realty team has gifted down gilets branded with the name of the agency and the club: to face the winter without fear of the cold!

Put in place during the autumn of 2021 for a period of three years, this partnership allows our agency to get involved in the life of the club and to share its members’ passion for mountain sports.

Committed to an eco-responsible approach, Ski Alpin Racing recently hosted a climate fresk workshop and has been organising “zero-carbon races” since 2021. The club, a true local institution which has 170 members, is shaping future champions.
