The Ski Alpine Racing club is increasing its commitment to climate

Already committed to an eco-responsible approach, our partner, Chamonix Ski Alpin Racing is taking a step further in favour of the environment. The club's managers have just participated in a Climate Fresk workshop to raise their members’ awareness on the subject.

Chamonix Ski Alpin Racing is committed to climate change

Protecting the Mont Blanc massif’s exceptional natural setting is everyone’s business. At the forefront as mountain users and enthusiasts, the members of Chamonix Ski Alpin Racing have embarked on an eco-responsible approach since 2021.

Their goal: to work at their level to preserve their favourite playground: the ski slopes! Partner of Chamonix Sotheby’s International Realty, Alpine Ski Racing has just passed a new milestone in its commitment to the environment.

At the end of October 2022, fifteen club executives met alongside representatives of Compagnie du Mont-Blanc and Domaine des Planards to participate in a collaborative Climate Fresk workshop.

The Ski Alpin Racing Climate Fresk: an educational tool

Gathered around Adrien Felewee, eco-adventurer and animator for the La fresque du Climat association, the participants in this meeting discussed the impact of human activities on global warming.

A very tangible way to approach the problem and try to find solutions that are easy to implement! This tool makes it possible to become aware of the actions that can be carried out locally to reduce your environmental footprint.

Alpine Ski Racing already started this work in 2021 by organising zero-carbon races: participants attended competitions by train and the trophies were replaced by fir trees to plant.

The club will continue its efforts by setting up an internal carpooling tool and by offering "car-free" workouts. Thanks to these initiatives, the idea is to reduce the impact through transport, one of the most greenhouse gas emitting problems for the club.

Ski Alpin Racing’s approach, as well as its project to draw up an RSO* charter, has also been welcomed by the French Ski Federation, which has paid the club a €6000 grant.

Training to raise as much awareness as possible

At the end of the meeting, several of the club’s coaches also expressed the wish to become representatives for Climate Fresk. This association, created in 2018, organises conferences throughout France and in more than 50 countries around the world.

They will in turn be able to conduct workshops for members who wish to do so, in order to raise as much awareness as possible.
