A multicultural region waiting to be explored.

Chamonix is located in the Haute-Savoie administrative department in the Auvergne-Rhônes-Alpes region of France. It is near the departments of Ain and Savoie as well as the Swiss cantons of Geneva, Vaud and Valais and the Aoste Valley in Italy.
The local landscape is marked by several large mountain ranges, including Mont Blanc, which sits between France and Italy at 4809 metres of altitude. 
A historical and artistic region, Haute-Savoie has extraordinary cultural, touristic and environmental heritage. Nearly 800,000 people live in the department of Haute-Savoie, which draws visitors from all over the world to visit the region’s spectacular offerings: Lake Annecy and its beaches, the Chamonix Valley, Lake Geneva and more than 50 ski resorts. The economy of the region benefits from its close proximity to Geneva, a financial centre of international repute.

Vibrant areas in the region including  Geneva/Annemasse, Annecy/Thônes, Cluses/Bonneville, Thonon-Les-Bains and Evian-les-Bains are all within easy reach of Chamonix Valley.
The region and the department are well connected by the A40/A41 motorway, the airports of Annecy Haute-Savoie Mont Blanc, the Annemasse Aerodrome and the Megève Altiport. Visitors can also arrive via the international airports of Geneva, Lyon and Chambery, or the TGV high-speed railway stations in Geneva, Annecy and Bellegarde.

The region’s cuisine is well known, with a culinary heritage that combines influences from Switzerland, Italy and France in a harmonious blending of flavours.
