Partnership: The Chamonix Alpine Ski Racing Celebration

As part of its partnership with Chamonix Ski Alpin Racing, the Chamonix Sotheby’s International Realty agency team was present on Sunday 24th April to celebrate the club with an event that brought together children and parents at Grands Montets followed by Planards.
 

Chamonix Alpine Ski Racing celebrates the end of the season

Many people gathered on Sunday 24th April to participate in Chamonix Alpine Ski Racing’s celebration, an event marking the end of the ski season in the valley.

Proud of its privileged partnership with the club, the Chamonix Sotheby’s International Realty agency was represented by its co-founders, Lionel and Sonia Thomas, who by their presence, demonstrated their support to the athletes.

The day began at Grands Montets with a friendly parent-child competition in which skiers dressed up in an 80s theme.

In keeping with the club’s “zero-carbon” aim, children travelled by train to limit their CO2 emissions.
 

Highlights of the day

After the race, everyone then regrouped at the Planards ski resort to share a barbecue and enjoy the various highlights of the event:
• The summer luge activity for children
• Prize giving for the morning competition, with the awarding of fir trees as has been the case all winter as part of the “zero carbon” mission
• The awards for the best performances of the winter, including the amazing 3rd place won by Blaise Giezendanner at the Kitzbhüel downhill race on 21stJanuary 2022.

At the age of 30, the Chamonix local achieved his first podium at this World Cup. His performance was praised by the members of Alpine Ski Racing, where the young man was trained.

This event also gave the club the opportunity to pay tribute to Olga Chappaz, who was celebrating her 100th birthday at the same time in the ski resort. Creator of the "flocon" ski badge, the oldest ESF ski instructor is one of the great names of French skiing and Chamonix valley.

Many of the participants present this at the event should be meeting at the closing of the Grands Montets ski resort on Sunday 1st May (read below) before meeting again next season.

"Freeride Day": Closing of Grands Montets on 1st May

On Sunday 1st May, for the last day of the ski season, the Grands Montets ski domain is celebrating the "Freeride Day" with numerous activities (price: 10 €).

On the program:
• Fancy dress competition with the theme of the Tour de France (around 3.30pm)
• Water Slide (the swimming pool)
• Zipline
• Timed speed descent
• Paret sledge descents
• DJ sets
• Bars
